ABOUT

I graduated with my BFA in Graphic Design in 2024 at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago with highest honors and a 4.0 GPA all semesters. During undergrad, my typographic poster “I Fill Space with Imagination” was featured in the Design Museum of Chicago for “Great Ideas for Humanity: Students for the Future” - featuring my own typeface and abstract collage work. I worked with the Design Museum of Chicago a second time and was commissioned to design a flag that represented my family’s Greek-Cypriot heritage. The event was sponsored by TERRA Foundation for American Art and Art Design Chicago. The flag was flown at Navy Pier and at the Taste of Chicago event in 2024 for Field Day - Flag Feast.

In 2024, I held my senior exhibition show titled “Ego Friendly” at NEIU Skylight Gallery. I created two large canvases full of hand-made collages comprised of packaging labels of health and wellness products focusing on typographic compositions and common visual indicators of health and wellness packaging. I collected the materials of the course of four months. On top of the compositions, I projected mirrored videos and psychedelic visuals. The visuals also contained photo edits of me portraying balance and harmony. I created a visual language with the labels by finding patterns and common symbols used by several different wellness brands all trying to communicate an idealistic healthy lifestyle through brand identity.

My mission was to understand my spiritual path through consumption habits while simultaneously trying to heal and nurture my own health in a way that would enlighten and uplift me to a bigger purpose as an artist and individual. I fell down the rabbit hole of health branding and learned about the “non-toxic culture” that is currently taking over the health space. I’ve witnessed the extremes and all sides of this ongoing conversation. I am still piecing together what to make of it all. I am socially aware of the impacts of the health and wellness industry, and I am actively researching the latest innovations and breakthroughs in this space with an open mind.

Graphic design gives me the ability to create in a practical way for everyday usage through many different forms. I have learned from my education experience that graphic design is all around us. I am highly aware of the influence it has on our society through typography, color, and grids. My design experience can be applied to businesses, individuals, and in my own creative personal work. I can turn ideas into experiences, emotions into systems, and messages into something tangible and thought provoking. I’m fascinated by how small design decisions can influence how people think, feel, and interact. I am also intrigued how this influences the media and products I consume which can be seen in my collage works. I proudly do not utilize AI in any form. I focus on my own experimental methods and techniques for intriguing compositions.
